Mince Beef

Our beef picadillo recipe is a tasty base ready for topping on rice or wrapping up in corn tortillas. Get creative by experimenting with seasonings or adding extra veggies & take this Mexican staple to the next level.

Ingredients

  • 500g beef mince
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 1/2 onion, diced
  • 1 carrot, diced
  • 1 potato, diced

Salsa Ingredients

  • 3 tomatoes
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 1/4 onion
  • 2 Guajillo chillies
  • 1 pinch oregano
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Cooking Instructions

  1. Cook the chillies for the salsa & remove the seeds.
  2. Blend all the salsa ingredients & add salt (be mindful not to make it too salty, as we’ll season the meat separately with salt & pepper).
  3. Dice the onion, carrot, & potato.
  4. Pan-fry the beef & season with garlic, salt & pepper.
  5. Add the onion, potatoes & carrots.
  6. After 10 minutes, add the salsa and cook for 25 minutes (check for salt).
  7. Check if the potatoes are cooked, then it’s ready to serve.
